EDGEWATER PARKS MASTER PLAN

Terry Stone led a multidisciplinary master planning process for the City of Edgewater’s park and recreation system that included more than 20 overall acres of parkland. Prior to this effort, the City had no formal master plan in place and desired a 10- to 15-year document to guide the growth of their existing facilities, programs, and vegetation across all parks and recreation properties.

Detailed inventories and analyses were completed and individual master plans and cost estimates developed for each of Edgewater’s existing parks, including a shared planning process for Walker-Branch Park in collaboration with the City of Lakewood, a shared owner of the park. A new walking loop was also introduced to link key community destinations and historic areas of Edgewater, broadening accessibility for residents and visitors.

The planning process was deeply informed by public engagement, ensuring that community priorities shaped each recommendation. The result was a summary document and set of actionable plans—approved by City Council and delivered to both municipalities—intended to guide long-term stewardship and future investment in these vital public spaces.

Terry Stone worked on the Edgewater Parks Master Plan while at Stone Landscape Architecture.
